All referrals to Stewart Homes will be reviewed by our Intake Team prior to any placement decision being made. Majority of our Individuals are children, however, we do consider adult placements. The team will review your request in order to:
- Assess your child’s particular needs with respect to our existing residential programs,
- Determine whether one of our homes can offer support to your child and which one might do it best,
- Determine whether your child will need supplemental educational or day program support, and
- Determine whether your child will require any extra support to ensure success in the residence.
We know that your request is important and time sensitive. Our Intake Team operates very quickly and will likely meet specifically to discuss your child. One of our team will usually be able to give you a clear, definitive answer within a day or two at most. If your referral is an emergency, we will try to give you an answer within an hour or two.
Occasionally we have been able to go from referral to actual placement in a single day. This is unusual and calls for all concerned to work together toward that single end. When it does work it is a distinct pleasure to see everybody, foster parents, parents, agency Placement Department staff, social workers and our management and residence staff, work together to help a desperate child out of crisis and into the beginnings of a safe and stable life.
EMERGENCY REFERRAL AFTER HOURS:
In the case of an emergency referral (child requires placement within 24 hours) please email the referral information to our Intake Team. This will reach a Program Manager on-call who can respond to your request.
